Dear Shrewsbury Middle School Families –
Welcome back! We look forward to a great year with you and your students.
Each year the Shrewsbury Middle School PTO works to support students and staff at Sherwood and Oak by organizing community events such as dances, field day, and staff appreciation, funding enrichment activities for our students, and providing for the purchase of supplies and materials that are not included in the regular school budget. In recent years we have funded many needs at Sherwood and Oak, by sharing the cost of the many field studies and enrichment experiences throughout the grades such as:
- Grade 5 Museum of Science presentation and trip to Lexington and Concord
- Grade 6 Mock Dig experience and visit to Christa MacAuliffe Center at Framingham State University
- Grade 7 Heifer Farms field study and Scholastic Magazine subscription
- Grade 8 Teamworks field trip and Shakespeare Alive Performance
- Materials for both media centers including e-books, online resources and print copies or books and magazines
- Funding for the annual Women in Science Conference; funding for other requests made during the year that pertain to enrichment experiences and curriculum materials that benefit large groups of students.
None of this would be possible without you – our parent partners. We are so very grateful for your support.
The annual calendar of fundraisers will be soon be in full swing. Some families look forward to this with great enthusiasm, while others prefer a different way to contribute. Today, with nothing to buy, nothing to dust or sell to the grandparents, you can help. Please consider making a direct donation to the Shrewsbury Middle School PTO – our annual means of obtaining “upfront” donations. These donations go directly to supporting our faculty and students. Donations in this manner are not only tax deductible, but are also eligible for matching gifts by many employers. Please check with your human resources department about the details.
Fundraisers are a necessary part of the school year, as they are the only means for the PTO to have sufficient funds to support our students and faculty. However, the greater the sum of direct donations today, the fewer fundraisers and sales we will need to conduct in the months ahead.
There are many ways to support our PTO and our school. We hope that you will choose a manner that is good fit for your family. Should you wish to make a donation today, we’ve enclosed a pledge card for your convenience. The PTO is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization and all gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.
However you choose to contribute, we are sincerely grateful for your support. Thank you so much for all that you do.
